Old Sturbridge Village
Today we had a fantastic "Home school day" field trip at Old Sturbridge Village in Sturbridge, MA. The children enjoyed learning about early New England life from 1790-1840. The museum site displayed towns throughout New England on over 200 acres of land. Theses included homes, a district school, meetinghouses, a country store, a bank, law office, printing office, sawmill, pottery shop, blacksmith shop, a shoe shop, and a copper shop.
The children had a great time learning about the different shops and how the people lived in this time period. The "B" favorite part of the field trip was seeing the blacksmith hard at work. And the "G' favorite part of the field trip was watching the shoe maker as he was making the shoes.
